Restauration of Diema DS-28 DFKM locomotive 23<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n

The locomotive was technically and visually in a poor condition. The club therefore decided to carry out the following work.
Technical work on the locomotive:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

  1. The shift fork for third gear was worn out. The problem was solved by reversing the fork<\/li>\n\n
  2. A thorough service was carried out on the engine. The oil was changed and all filters and the drive belt for the alternator were replaced.<\/li>\n\n
  3. The rag joint was very worn and had to be replaced with a new joint<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n

    Optical works<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

    1. The locomotive was completely dismantled.<\/li>\n\n
    2. The old paint has been completely sanded off<\/li>\n\n
    3. The larger dents were removed<\/li>\n\n
    4. The bonnet and driver's cab were straightened<\/li>\n\n
    5. Several holes in the driver's cab and a considerably large hole in the bonnet were closed<\/li>\n\n
    6. The locomotive was repainted to match the livery of the DR's LKM V15
      • Blue for the body and front of the frames<\/li>\n\n
      • White trim strip<\/li>\n\n
      • Wheels and frame in black<\/li>\n\n
      • The interior was painted in light grey.<\/li><\/ul><\/li>\n\n
      • The labelling was applied at the end<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n

        The restoration required around 250 hours of work. These were completed during the 2024 works week. The locomotive can now be used again in its new look as a shunting locomotive in L\u00fctjenkamp.<\/p>\n\n\n

        The locomotive was on display for visitors and friends of the museum on Open Monument Day in September 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n
