Self Construction TW1
Our motorised draisine is a reconstruction based on an old Wehrmacht draisine from a now decommissioned peat works in Neudorf-Platendorf.
It was used there to transport the workers. In 1979, the vehicle came to the DFKM in Deinste. It was parked here for a long time, but was then refurbished. However, the single-cylinder Ilo engine stopped working sone after commissioning. Attempts to equip the trolley with a moped engine did not lead to the desired success.
After the draisine had been on display for 15 years, we were offered a 5 hp Farymann diesel with a centrifugal clutch, which fits perfectly into the railcar. However, it was another 5 years before the railcar could go back into service.
A special feature of the vehicle are the wooden wheel discs made up of segments, onto which iron wheel tyres are pressed.
The wooden benches provide space for around 8 people. The motorised trolley is therefore an ideal vehicle for touring with small groups of up to 7 people.
