Welcome to the website of the German
Light Railway Museum in Deinste

A journey with the steam train through the "Stader Feldmark"

The DFKM has been running a railway museum on a 600 mm narrow-gauge light railway for more than 50 years. On all museum days (Dates), we take our guests on a journey in a train consisting of historic passenger carriages hauled by a steam locomotive.
At good weather, an open freight train with original diesel light railway locomotives is also used.

Among the locomotives , the Henschel 20925 steam locomotive is our main attraction. The museum also has 14 operational diesel locomotives and one electric locomotive (not operational). The rolling stock ranges from hand-pushed tipper wagons to four-axle passenger wagons.

Autumn in the Deinste railroad country

We would like to thank our many visitors who came along to the Open Monument Day on 13 September 2026 and to the October Steam Event on 3 October 2026. Despite the weather in September, these were truly wonderful days out at the museum, which brought great joy to the whole DFKM team. We hope you enjoyed your visit.

Impressions from Open Monument Day in September 2026

In September, real steam engines for G gauge railways were demonstrated in operation at the Lütjenkamp museum shed.

On Museum Day October 3rd, 2026 (‘October Steam’), our guests could visit a travelling exhibition featuring stationary steam engines in operation.
